TaskClone 2.0 – An even better Evernote tool

This morning I received an email about an upcoming update to TaskClone. You can see the whole list of features here on their blog post but there are a couple of things that will probably change for me once it comes down the pipe.

No more Inbox filtering

As it stands right now, all of my tasks get filtered into my “Inbox” in Todoist. This is because each project in Todoist has it’s own unique email address so there was no way to filter them anywhere else. This works, but it does mean that sometimes at the end of a day I have to spend a bit of time “organizing” my todo items rather than just having them where they need to be. It looks like 2.0 will allow me to specify up to 5 projects based on the tasks. I’ll be interested to see how this is done (I’m guessing using different tags inside of evernote) but I’m excited to see it work. As it stands I see a need for a “church” and “work” project, and maybe for now I’ll just use the inbox for everything else.

Evernote links

One of the things that I love is that TaskClone allows me to view the original note in evernote right from Todoist. The problem is not all of my todoist apps understand the “evernote:” links (the web will open my desktop version fine but my phone doesn’t recognize them as links). Being able to use https: links will be great because then I’ll always be able to get to the notes, no matter where I am.

Task Defaults

I’m not entirely sure what this will include but they also talk about the ability to include “defaults” for tasks. It looks like things like Priority, due dates, and labels might be available. This would be great because then I can label the todo items in Todoist with @evernote and know which ones came from there and have an evernote link in the notes (I hid the |en| on my todo items because although I liked to know they came from Evernote I felt like it was distracting from my task item).

Summary

Overall I’m glad to see the application is getting attention and is continuing to get better. What I’ve highlighted here is what means the most to me and my system but there are still other things I didn’t cover. I highly recommend getting the “Plus” plan and utilizing their awesomeness. Go check them out!
